I graduated from Colorado State University in 1980 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. I worked a couple years at Western Electric in PBX field repair in Denver before joining MITRE in McLean Virginia. There I had the good fortune to join an internetworking group, where my interest in routing, addressing, and auto-configuration of large scale networking systems took root. Since then all my research has, in one way or another, followed that theme.
After MITRE I worked at Bellcore in New Jersey and NTT in Tokyo before finally joining ACIRI. Along the way I obtained a Ph.D. in computer science at the University College London.
Currently I am working on a host-based content distribution project called Yoid.
